Had to get a quick upperbody workout, my older brother was coming into town and I wanted to get my workout in before he got here.

Old Time Strongman Meet

October 14th I plan on competing down in Kirksville, MO at the Old Time Strongman Meet.

This is not like a regular strongman competition that I am used to as there are not farmers walk,stones, or moving events. But it will still be challenging.

The events are:
Appollons Lift
Cyr Press
18" Deadlift
Anderson Squat

Here are my goals I would like to get on each lift for this meet.
Appollons lift-280lbs this might be a stretch but my training is feeling spot on
Cyr Press-150lbs this really is a stretch as this lift is hit or completely miss for me
18" Deadlift-625lbs I think this is low but it would be a strapless PR
Anderson Squat-575lbs honestly I don't know what to expect here, this is a very tough spot for me.

Now I just gotta keep on training and hope for the best.

Decided to not push it tonight, I was still pretty sore from tuesday and I felt rundown.

Pretty happy about this, these were not terribly challenging but I had to push to get through them. I think I got probably 1-2 cycles of this routine before I have to adjust my weights.

Overhead, Squatting, and 18" deads. Feeling good.

Good night of training, I think maybe one of the best I have had in years. That and I feel the strongest overall than I ever have.

Upperbody training

This week has probably been some of the best training I have had in a long time. Very happy with how things are coming along. Today was one of the make or break workouts. My bench press has just been in the shitter lately, and if I didn't have a good session today, I was seriously considering giving up on it.

My next lifting meet is October 14th, I am feeling very excited  about, but I really got some things I have to work on. Especially the Cyr Press.

Crazy day of training

Eventually I am gonna be completely changing my workouts around, but really I was quite happy with how today went. I am adding in some of Mike Westerling's ideas for my lower body but upperbody I am gonna stick with what I have been doing, as I am seeing some great gains and PRs.

Probably gonna go back to 531 on these not sure yet. I have had a goal of getting a bodyweight strict press for a long time, and I always manage to fuck it up and not get it. Need to stick it out and get this goal.

Great day of training

Today was great 84 degrees and I was pumped up to lift.

Since I am gonna be deloading for most of the week, I decided to go ahead and do my overhead pressing, I was supposed to be a deload week but I wanted to see how near max weights felt.

250 x 1 this felt good but I was getting light headed.

Farmers Walks
210 each hand x 120 feet with a turn
260 each hand x 50 feet, so I didn't know what the hell was going on here, this slipped out of my hand way too early. So I got a great idea, and now that I think back over the years on farmers walks I did shitty on it makes sense. The was a crap load of chalk on the handles, so I wiped it off. Wallah!!!
260 each hand x 90 feet grip felt great.
So many meets I have been the last person to go and all that damn chalk is on there, and since I don't have the greatest grip anyways this makes a lot sense, must remember for the future.

Bench Pressing and Team Lifting practice

Decided to try some Wider grip bench pressing tonight. Still on the fence about it.

Bench press with wide grip

260 x 5 close grip tris were shot at this point.

Mac and I practiced the 2 man bent over row and 2 1 arm clean and jerk. Went ok, gotta get our timing down.

DB floor press

I am really regretting the high rep stuff right now, I can barely reach across myself without my pecs cramping.

Lat Pulldowns
5 x 10

I also did around 30-40 pullups.

Overall ok night, gonna probably only train up until Tue and then take the rest of the week off.
